Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sons Arise just for men?

No, it’s for men and women! We don’t say ‘daughters’ because in the Hebrew tradition daughters did not obtain an inheritance. If men can be ‘the bride’ then certainly women can be sons.

Where are the events being held?

At our own building, The Freedom Centre, 1 Howard Avenue. Barnstaple, Devon EX32 8QA, UK (see map).
During intensives, we will be using designated areas of the Centre but other parts of the building will be open to the public as usual.
During conferences, the Centre will be closed to the general public.

Where can I get my ticket?

Visit our freedomarc.org/sonsarise webpage and click on the title or image of the event for which you require a ticket. Ticket sales are handled for us by Eventbrite.

What is the best way of getting there?

By road:

SatNav: enter our postcode: EX32 8QA

The Freedom Centre is situated on the eastern outskirts of Barnstaple.
Download or view directions here.

By rail:

There is a railway station in Barnstaple, about 10 minutes’ walk from the town centre (about 25 minutes’ walk from the Freedom Centre).

If coming from London, the fastest trains depart from Paddington station. There are also trains from London Waterloo, but these are much slower. Wherever your point of departure, you will need to change trains at Exeter St. David’s for the trip along the picturesque Tarka Line branch to Barnstaple.

On arrival at Barnstaple you will probably wish to take a bus or taxi (both available at the railway station) to your accommodation or to the Freedom Centre.

[Note: You may wish to take the train to Tiverton Parkway and travel the 37 miles from there to Barnstaple by taxi. It is advisable to book the taxi in advance. This will normally be faster than changing trains at Exeter St. David’s but is likely to be more expensive.]

By bus or coach:

The local bus and National Express coach station is in the centre of Barnstaple, 15 minutes’ walk from the Freedom Centre.

Can I park at the venue?

Parking at the Freedom Centre is limited and we can only offer spaces to individuals who are registered disabled and have notified us of their need for a parking space when purchasing their event ticket.

There are two small public pay-and-display car parks wthin a few minutes walk of the Freedom Centre:

  • Congram’s Close EX32 9AN and
  • Portmarsh Lane EX32 9HY.

For those staying in the recommended hotels (see below), the best option will be to leave your car there and come to the Centre on foot or by taxi.

Where can I stay?

We have arranged favourable rates with local hotel chain Brend Hotels. Please note that these rates are only available when booking direct with Brend Hotels central reservations team using the phone numbers or email address provided and quoting ‘Freedom Apostolic’, and not with the hotels themselves or online. Rates vary according to the time of year. Please select the relevant document from the options below:

Their nearest hotel is The Park Hotel (4 stars), about 11 minutes level walk from the Freedom Centre. The Imperial Hotel (4 stars) and The Royal and Fortescue Hotel (3 stars) are a few minutes further away, but closer to the town centre. The Barnstaple Hotel (3 stars) is on the opposite side of town. Breakfast is included in the rates quoted and all Brend hotels have restaurants for your evening meals if required.

As an inexpensive alternative, you may wish to consider Barnstaple Premier Inn (3 stars, national budget chain) instead. This is on the eastern edge of town, also about 11 minutes level walk away from the Freedom Centre. There is a pub-style restaurant attached. Prices for this hotel chain tend to increase closer to the event date.

On Airbnb you can find rooms or even whole houses at very affordable prices.
If you’d like to share accommodation but have no-one to share with, please contact us and we’ll try to put you in touch with others in the same situation.

Or click the following links to search for local hotelsbed and breakfasts, holiday cottages and apartments or camping and caravanning on the internet.

Barnstaple is in a popular holiday area, so please make sure you book your accommodation promptly.
Please also be aware of slow travel times in our rural area during the peak season and note the parking restrictions at the venue (see above).

What meals will be served at the event?

Conferences – No food will be served at the conferences, however there are food outlets within walking distance of the Centre. There will be tea/coffee freely available during session breaks.

Intensives – A free lunch will be provided each day during the intensives with tea/coffee available during session breaks. Please notify us of any dietary requirements when booking. There are food outlets within walking distance of the Centre for your evening meal.

Can I bring my children?

No. We are sorry, the event is suitable for persons over the age of 16 years only and there are no facilities available for children.

Will the events be livestreamed?

Limited livestreaming of the conferences only is available to purchase on our website. The cost for access to the livestream of each conference will be £30.  The teaching and public activations will be livestreamed, but not the worship or any private activation times.

The intensives will not be livestreamed.

Will the events be recorded?

The conferences will be both video and audio recorded. Shortly after each event has finished we will make the recordings available online free of charge to all those who have a ticket to the event or the livestream.

The conference recordings will also be available for all non-ticket holders to buy.

We may record parts of the intensives. If so, we will make any recordings available to attendees free of charge.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code for our conferences or intensives but we do recommend wearing something comfortable as there will be a lot of sitting down.
